Season Finale For First Lady

Johannesburg – This weekend sees the final round of the WesBank Super Series travel to South Africa’s premiere race circuit - Kyalami. The race weekend sees the Italian V8 Superstars join the Super Series for an action filled weekend’s racing. The two WesBank V8 Supercar races will be spread across 2 days with the first race on Saturday and the second on the Sunday.

After two very competitive previous race weekends Clare Vale will be looking to continue her good form and take her Gatorback RAM Mustang to another podium finish. Clare has recently proved that she has the pace to be a contender. Currently 9th in the Super GT class she will be determined to cement her Top 10 championship finish.

Clare on the Kyalami race. “The Gatorback RAM Mustang has been in top form recently and the handling in East London was awesome. The team fully intends to finish the 2010 season in style and will be going all out for a best result ever at Kyalmai.”

Clare Vale Gives a Duck

Johannesburg – Clare Vale and her Gatorback RAM racing team recently joined those “giving a duck” with the I Give A Duck initiative. The initiative is to raise funds for the Bobs For Good Foundation and Learn To Earn. The Duck will be taken everywhere by the team over the month of November and will be at the race at Kyalami at the end of this month. The Duck will feature in pictures taken with the team which will be posted on facebook and twitter. Our objective is that this will lead to more people becoming involved and contributing generously to this wonderful cause.

Clare Vale on giving a duck.”The Gatorback RAM racing team is delighted to take part in the I Give A Duck campaign. Not only does the project donate school shoes to children in need, but the project also addresses the problem of the high number of scholars involved in traffic accidents. The shoes are delivered in a box which includes a road safety game and the shoes themselves are fitted with reflective strips to make the children more visible in poor visibility conditions.”

Another First for the First Lady

East London – This weekend saw history being made as Clare Vale, The First Lady of South African racing came an impressive 3rd overall in her Gatorback RAM Mustang. This meant that she became the first lady racer to finish on the podium in a WesBank V8 Supercar race.

Qualifying saw Clare put in a time almost 2 seconds quicker than she’s ever been at the East London circuit. She lined up 10th for the first race. Good consistent driving saw her finish the first race 7th and start the second race from pole. The second race produced event filled action and Clare managed to stay clear of the incidents and finish an excellent 4th. Her pace showed that she’s really closed up on the front end of the field and heading towards the final event of the year she will be looking to be on the podium again.

Clare on her race weekend: “The Gatorback RAM Mustang team gave me an awesome car, and everything came together perfectly this weekend for the East London race. The Mustang was in top form and I was able get the car flying at this super fast circuit. A podium finish and 3rd overall was a great reward for all the hard work we’ve put in. A big thank you to our sponsors, the team and to BMSC for putting on a great event.”

Successful but exhausting 12 Hour for Clare Vale

Vereeniging – Saturday night saw the start to this year’s Old Mutual 12 Hour Wide Horizons Hospice Endurance Karting race. Clare Vale joined her ladies team who alone raised over R40,000.00 for the Hospice while competing in the massive 34 kart field. Her team consisted of SAFM’s Renelle Naidoo, racing drivers Mel Spurr (Super Hatch), Robyn Kruger (Engen VW Cup), Lauren Muller (Locost) and Zwarkops’ own Wouna du Plessis.

After qualifying an excellent 20th, the action got away at 22h00 and the long stretch until the morning finish began. The race started in pouring rain making the racing tricky on track. Robyn handled it beautifully and was running 13th by the first pit stop. The team then ran well despite some engine and brake issues and later a steering failure. This pushed them down to 29th. They fought back with some excellent driving to finished a well driven 22nd.

Clare Vale on the event, “I’m really proud of our ladies team. We drove a lot of the race with only one of the ProKart motors running, but never gave up and our team spirit was fantastic! It was an honor to join the series to raise funds for Wide Horizons Hospice, and would like to thank the ProKart organizers for the invitation and for all the support they gave us throughout the race. A big thank you to all our sponsors for their generous donations!”
