First Lady – Sideways

Pretoria – Saturday the 25th of February sees Clare Vale take her Gatorback RAM Mustang Drift car to Zwartkops to debut in the National SupaDrift series. Clare had planned to take part in the last event of 2011, but the usual new car build teething problems surfaced and the team is now satisfied that the car is ready to compete in this exciting series.

The challenge has been set and The First Lady will be looking forward to becoming the First Lady to compete in the SupaDrift series. The SupaDrift series has been growing from strength to strength, attracting record crowds at each event, and this trend should continue in 2012.

Clare Vale on her SupaDrift debut, “The Gatorback RAM team decided at the end of 2010 to commence building a new, drift specific V8 Mustang for the Supadrift series. The process took a lot longer than we anticipated, but the car is now ready to slide and we are all looking forward to our first official competition. It’s quite a challenge to make the change from circuit racing to drifting, but we’ve been practising and hope to put on a great show for all our fans and supporters!”

Clare was also recently nominated for an award at the 2011 Bridgestone / SA Guild of Motoring Journalists Motor Sportsman of the Year Awards. The Colin Watling award is given for a significant contribution and achievement in motorsport, outside of competition.

Clare on her nomination, ”It’s a huge honour to have been nominated for this Award. It was totally unexpected, particularly when I consider the calibre of previous winners and this year’s nominees. With my relatively short history of involvement in motorsport, it’s a real privilege to have had my name put forward for consideration.”
